She is hot and the most talked about ramp scorcher right now. Deepika Padukone, the model with big eyes, is ready for hotter innings on the big screen as she makes her Bollywood debut with SRK, with the film Om Shanti Om. “I’ve grown up watching Shah Rukh Khan and never really imagined that one day I will get to play the lead opposite him,” exclaims the model who is also the daughter of India’s most well-known badminton star, Prakash Padukone.

Deepika is no stranger to the big screen as she has already appeared in a Kannada film, Aishwarya directed by Indrajith Lankesh. “Aishwarya was a great learning experience but I’ve a long way to go,” she says. Deepika adds that she also learnt a lot in the “three-month acting course” she undertook at Anupam Kher’s acting school. As for the buzz around her role in Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s Dilli opposite Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika refuses to confirm anything.

When not on the ramp, the pretty lass likes to live life “basic and simple. I love cooking, reading books, listening to music and dancing.” And as she waits for her big screen debut, she says, “Though I’ve been thinking of acting for long, I took the plunge only when I was sure of myself.” Let us see if her transition turns out to be a success.
