Talking to reporters after his felicitation function, Tendulkar said the healing process would not take a long time and he would be back in action sooner than later.

"When it happened it was healing well. Then it became a big tear necessitating the surgery. Luckily for me, it's not a long healing process and I am pretty confident I will be back in action soon," he said.

Tendulkar would fly for London on Saturday to undergo the surgery on his left shoulder.

Dr Andrew Wallace, who operated upon Tendulkar's left elbow to treat tennis elbow, would conduct the operation.

The master batsman would be out of action for eight weeks because of the shoulder surgery.
