Talking to media persons here on Thursday, home secretary RM Srivastava said that the State Government also issued directives to step up vigil at the two railway stations. Srivastava said that the station superintendent of Jhansi had received a letter by post on Wednesday, saying that a Kanpur-based terrorist organisation was planning attacks on Jhansi and Babina stations before August 15 or on the day of Deepawali.

Srivastava said that the letter was reportedly written by a former member of the terrorist organisation. Since an army camp was there at these stations, the security agencies had not made appropriate security arrangements there. “I joined the organisation with some other objectives. Some people want to kill people and destroy our nation. So I distanced myself from the organisation. I am a true Indian Hindu,” read the letter. Srivastava said the authorities had been asked to find out how and from where the letter was sent and identify those were behind sending the letter.
