IIIT-A celebrates foundation day
A CLOURFUL cultural programme by students marked the seventh foundation day of Allahabad?s Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-A) on its Jhalwa campus on Friday evening. Chairman of IIIT-A?s board of governors Padma Bhushan FC Kohli was the chief guest on the occasion.
A CLOURFUL cultural programme by students marked the seventh foundation day of Allahabad’s Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-A) on its Jhalwa campus on Friday evening. Chairman of IIIT-A’s board of governors Padma Bhushan FC Kohli was the chief guest on the occasion.
A number of teachers, officials and students of IIIT-A were present during the programme. As the evening descended, students from IIIT-A’s Jhalwa as well as Amethi campuses, presented an hour-long programme showcasing skits, dances, group dances and songs much to the applause of the audience.
The programme followed the prize distribution ceremony in which all students of the Deemed University who had won various competitions throughout the year were awarded for their performances in co-curricular activities. With the Institute ready for convocation function on Saturday, Friday remained a day of hectic activities for the IIITians. The board of governors too held their traditional annual meeting to mark the day even as teachers and students hurried around in preparations for the third convocation function of the Institute. On Saturday, 194 students will be conferred degrees besides over a dozen outstanding students being presented with medals for their brilliant academic performances.
Provost and executive vice-president for academic affairs of US State University of Newyork, Buffalo, Prof Satish Kumar Tripathi, will be the chief guest on the occasion and will also deliver the convocation address. Prof Tripathi will also be conferred with the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) for his outstanding contributions in the field of science and education during the function. Chairman of IIIT-A’s board of governors Padma Bhushan FC Kohli will preside over the convocation function which will also be attended by chairman of IIIT-A society Prof AR Verma.
