IIIT-A: MBA students head for cent per cent placement

IT'S A dream come true for students and faculty members of the Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A). With great offers coming their way from blue-chip companies that they had always dreamt of, the first batch MBA (IT) students of the premiere institute are on cloud nine.

In an impressive performance, the 41 MBA students, all set to graduate next year, have notched up an impressive performance with over 80 per cent of them getting job offers from giants like Intel, SDG, IndiaBulls, ICICI Prudential, MBT, Wipro and Asian Paints among others.

With over half-a-dozen companies still in the queue and the placement exercise still not over, the teachers and the students are confident of achieving a 100 per cent placement for the batch with many a student even having multiple job offers to choose from.

"The placement exercise began on January 8 and is expected to conclude by February 15. As many as 16 companies including Intel, SDG, IndiaBulls, ICICI Prudential, MBT, Wipro, Asian Paints, Syntel, IMRB, LnT Infotech, Auditime, Compare Infobase, Rolta India, HCL Comnet, 3i Infotech, TCS and Aptech have already visited us and already most of our students have got job offers," informed Shveta Singh, MBA Training and Placement Officer. She informed that among the companies slated to arrive at IIIT-A for recruitment in the coming days include Honda Siel, Maruti, Satyam, Aceva Technologies and Geodesic among others.

"We are confident that by the time the placement exercise is over, many of our students will have 2 to 3 jobs to choose from," he added confidently. So far, the average salary offered to IIIT-A MBA students ranges between Rs 3.5 Lakh and Rs 4 lakh per annum. "The highest salary offered till date is Rs 6 lakh per annum by Intel," Shveta Singh said.

As for job profiles, students have been selected for the posts of Business Consultants, Business Analysts, Business Development, key accounts management besides Technical Associates.

Happy with the placement results, the IIIT-A MBA (IT) programme co-ordinator, Anurika Vaish credits the success to the quality of the MBA course being offered by the Institute.

"IIIT-A started its MBA course with major specialisation in Information Technology and minor from Marketing or Finance namely designed keeping in mind the latest emerging trends in management and future needs of the society.

IIIT-A management program is today the top techno-MBA program of the country and was designed with the aim of developing global business leaders for the future," she informed.

Anurika said the programme is built upon a curriculum to meet the growing demand for managers with technology and business skills. "The programme fosters state-of-the-art approaches to managing in diverse organisational units and settings. We are preparing managers for global leadership roles who can get ahead in today's business world by being flexible, creative and disciplined," she added.
