IITTM director S K Mishra said that since hostel assistant Uma Gupta had filed an FIR of rape against lecturer D C Soni with the local police, it would be appropriate if the matter was investigated by police and the local administration.
The local administration has begun investigation to get to the bottom of the case.

Mishra said Gupta and Soni have been asked to proceed on leave till the final report was out. Decision to send the duo on leave was taken by the standing committee of the institute and Gupta would be allowed to avail salary benefit as per employment norms, Mishra added.
