The controversial television producer Suhaib Illyasi, undergoing trial for allegedly abetting suicide of his wife Anju, on Saturday moved a contempt application against his mother-in-law and some media organisations for venting their views about the case in the print and electronic media.

The application in which he alleged that publishing or airing of views amounted to prejudicing the trial of the case, was filed before Additional Sessions Judge Chander Gupta.

Ilyasi has sought initiation of contempt proceedings against his mother-in-law Rukma Singh and the reporters, printers, publishers and proprietors of some dailies and television channels.

The application filed through his counsel RD Mehra alleged that Rukma Singh and the scribes have tried to influence the decision of the case by giving "tainted version" of it.

Anju was found in a serious condition with stab wounds on the night of January 10, 2000, at her East Delhi home and she later succumbed to her injuries.
