Income tax advocate shot dead

An income tax advocate was shot dead by unidentified persons in Hapur, 50 km from here, police said today.

An income tax advocate was shot dead by unidentified persons in Hapur, 50 km from here, police said today.

35-year-old Pankaj Mittal was shot dead when he was going home in Pilakhuwa from his chamber last night, they said.

Police said that after Mittal was shot near his house at about 8 pm, he telephoned his brother who arrived at the scene and rushed him to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Hapur Tax Advocates' Association today strongly condemned his murder and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

In another incident, 24-year-old Kapil was shot dead in Loni late last night, police said.

In yet another incident, a 48-year-old Delhi-based businessman, Mahendra Aggarwal was shot at and injured near here last night and was hospitalised in a serious condition.

Cases have been registered in connection with these incidents and investigation is on.
