Two teams led by income tax officer Suresh Kumar and Ram Manohar conducted the raid. Sources said the team had found several discrepancies in the accounts books.

Sources said acting on a tip off that the shop owners were paying less income tax in comparison to their known sources of income, the department conducted a confidential survey and later conducted the raid on their shops. Heavy police force was deployed around the shops and the income tax officials were maintaining secrecy regarding the raid.
