A three-day state mourning from Sunday has been declared by the Government as a mark of respect to late Pope John Paul II.

Flags at all Government buildings will fly at half mast during the period, a Home Ministry spokesman said.

A decision to this effect was conveyed to those concerned including ministries and departments by Union Home Secretary VK Duggal.

All official entertainment for the next three days would stand cancelled, the spokesman added.
