In an official release, the External Affairs Ministry said India strongly condemns the terrorist attack on innocent civilians on March 1 in Kunming, China.

"We extend our condolences to the bereaved families and wish an early recovery to those who were injured. India strongly opposes terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," it said.

According to the Chinese security officials, a group of 10 knife and sword-wielding attackers hailing from Xinjiang carried out the attack at crowded Kunming railway station that left 33 people dead and 143 injured.

Four of the attackers were killed, while one injured woman militant was captured after the incident.

A search is on for the other militants, stated to be from the banned separatist East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), an al-Qaeda-backed outfit.
