ACI is an association of the world’s airports having 573 members operating over 1751 airports in 174 countries.

"The fact that India’s hubs are all outside of India is not a good thing. You want a hub in Delhi and Mumbai at the very least," Gittens told HT.

Airport infrastructure, she said, has been lacking in India.

"Air India does not have the strength to be a hub carrier. You might be better off by letting fate take the draw and let some of the other Indian carriers become the hub carriers," she added.
