Cricket and pharmaceuticals are two different ball games altogether. But non-resident Indian Naresh Kumar Dinodiya has proved successful in both in Myanmar.

After starting distributorship of Indian consumer durables and pharmaceuticals in Myanmar and launching new businesses in Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam, Dinodiya is now generating funds for the fledgling Cricket Council of Myanmar.
When Dinodiya came to Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, to help with father Pyarelel's business of exporting pulses in the early 90s, he could not forget his childhood passion of cricket.
When Myanmar started experimenting with market-oriented reforms, the young Dinodiya scented an amazing business potential.
"There were no distributors for Indian consumer durables and pharmaceuticals," he said. "I felt this was a good area to work in."
He picked up agencies like Nestle, Ranbaxy, Dr Reddy's and Supermax and started a campaign to introduce Indian goods and get them accepted. After the first three lean and tough years, the gamble paid off.
