The net worth of Shriram, a director with Google Inc since 1998, is $1.3 billion. And Bose, the MIT engineer who invented Bose speakers and set up the renowned Bose Corporation, is worth $1.2 billion.
Shriram, catapulted by Google’s big splash on the Wall Street following its IPO last year, has made the cut for the first time.
Featured 258th on the list, Shriram raked in $400 million by selling Google stock.
He still owns 3.4 million shares worth about $960 million.
For Bose, it is the fourth year in a row on the Forbes 400 list, placed in the 283rd slot this time. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-born Bose, a byword in acoustics with his ground-breaking loudspeaker design, has steadily expanded the product line of his company.
The Bose Corporation now boasts of a $1.7 billion sales turnover.
The Forbes 400 list, as usual, is headed by Microsoft chief Bill Gates. His fortunes have risen to $51 billion from $48 billion a year ago.
Gates is followed once again by investor Warren Buffett, with a net worth of $40 billion.
