Bids received for the previous tender have quoted nearly 50% higher amount than the projected cost of R26 crore, which officials say is not “feasible” to invest.
Sources said there were two bidders who had quoted around R40 crore for tenders floated two months ago through e-tendering.
The HSIIDC board of directors will now review the bids and take a final decision on issuing a fresh one. It will take another two years for the sub-station to be commissioned.
The new sub-station is proposed to come up in addition to the existing 132KV sub-station at the Bawal growth centre.
While the present power requirement of the growth centre is around 75MW, the township will need around 250MW in future when its nearly 2,000 plots, ranging between 450 sq metre to 25 acre, will be occupied. The proposed sub-station is will cater to this augmented power requirement.
