The ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony, wherein idols are formally installed and consecrated, was held in almost all the puja pandals on Thursday evening.
Devotional songs dedicated to Goddess Durga and chanting of Vedic mantras are adding flavour to Navratra celebrations. Roads were well illuminated and giant welcome gates set up.
The Baba Machoddarnath Durgotsav Samiti has set up a 110-feet-high puja pandal which is a replica of the Jaipur Palace.

Over 200 clubs, social organisations and institutions are celebrating Durga Puja in the district. A series of cultural functions are also being held.
Besides, Durga temples were chock-a-block with devotees. Since the seventh day of Navratra is dedicated to Goddess Kalratri, the temple of Kalratri was overcrowded. The district and police administration made elaborate security arrangements for the festival.
