UNITED COLLEGE of Engineering and Research (UCER) is going to organise a one--day international conference on 'Science, Technology and Society? 21st Century Perspective' on its premises on Thursday.

The meet would be held under the direction of renowned scientist and former director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Dr KP Mishra who is presently a senior faculty member of Hiroshima University, Japan.
Addressing media persons on Wednesday, chairman of United Foundation Girdhar Gopal Gulati said that the theme of the conference has been drawn from the fact that the advancements in science and technology has played a pivotal role in the betterment of society since origin of life.
"Considering the relevance of technological effects on society, the conference aims to focus on the emerging scenario in science and technology. The speakers drawn from multi-disciplinary fields would present a review of their research with an emphasis on current status and the developing new trends in a particular field," he said.
Director of UCER, Jagdish Gulati said that the conference will also deliberate on the deteriorating and destructive effect of scientific innovations and also exploitation of resources on environment and human health.
"Focus will also be laid especially on radiation risk assessment and in improvement of cancer radiotherapy by providing deeper insight of molecular mechanism of radiation effects on cellular and life systems. Further the rationale of application of the scientific knowledge and innovation through a technology developed without considering its impact on the mankind and its environment, needs to be evaluated based on modern scientific perspectives," he said.
Internationally acclaimed Indian and foreign scientists and technocrats including Prof G IIIakis from Germany, Prof AT Natrajan from Netherland, Prof T Nomura from Japan, Prof Dick Hill from Canada, Prof Agahmiri from Iran, Prof G Safrani from Hungary, Prof M Kadhim, from United Kingdom, Prof Jin Ku Kim, Director, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Prof A Moskalev from Russia, Dr P Hand from Singapore besides others would present their papers during the meet.
The over all focus would be to outline major front line research topics for future and identify areas for international collaborations to achieve desired accelerated progress for the society in order to have better living, he added.
Principal of United Institute of Management Prof TB Singh, UCER advisor Prof LM Srivastava, UCER's Placement in-charge Prof Prabhakar Vardhan were also present on the occasion.
