The IPS officer was not at her residence when the incident took place.

Those who were beaten up included the Deputy Commissioner of police and Assistant Commissioner of Police of Tamil Nadu. The others who were thrashed were two Sub Inspectors and head constables.

The cops had come from Anna Nagar in Tamil Nadu to investigate a murder case in which Luxshmi Singh's (the IPS officer) brother Digvijay was a prime suspect. Digvijay had allegedly issued threats to Nagarja, a businessman in Tamil Nadu, who was later shot in his residence. He is still battling for his life.

It is also learnt that DCP Arun took Digvijay to the PAC Guest House in Lucknow and ACP Karunanidhi. Later, they asked him to show his licensed revolver at his Sector-A Mahanagar Colony residence.

Thereafter, the Tamil Nadu cops arrived at Digvijay's residence and were mobbed by 20 men led by the IPS officer's mother, Nayantara Singh. Nayantara herself started beating the cops knowing fully well that the cops would raise hands on a lady.

After the directive by the Deputy Inspector general of police, the FIR by the TN cops was lodged.
