Iqbal Markaz to hold women?s Mushaira

THE ALLAMA Iqbal Markaz of Sahitya Akademi is organising a two-day event at the Mulla Ramoozi Sanskriti Bhawan on November 8 and 9.
Painting competition for students based on the couplets of Iqbal, poetry recitals and ‘bait-baazi’ would be held during the function. Former MP Kailash Sarang would inaugurate the programme.
On the first day, painting competition would be held followed by ‘bait-baazi’ and mushaira. The winners of the competitions would be felicitated the next day.
Later a ‘mushaira’ would be held. Only women poets would recite in the mushaira. Safia Rag, Rabab Zaidi, Kausar Jahan, Khalida Siddiqui, Parveen Kaif, Mumtaz Siddiqui, Parveen Saba, Arjumand Bano, Nusrat Mehdi, Usha Bhadoria, Anu Sapan and Seema Naz would recite their poetry. This is the first occasion when the markaz is organising such a mushaira.
The Akademi director Dr Devendra Deepak and Deputy Director Jhammu Chhugani have urged the connoisseurs of poetry to attend the function. Those wishing to participate in the ‘bait-baazi’ and painting competition can contact the Akademi at 2767749, according to press release issued on Saturday.
