Late Wednesday night after the Team India cricketers had settled into their rooms and the special branch police on duty was taking it easy, pace spearhead Irfan Pathan apparently sent them on a spin.

Around 2130 hrs, Pathan bolted out of the hotel alone and hit the main road when DC Special Branch P Chatterjee stopped the player and asked him about his destination.

Reportedly miffed at this interference, Pathan retorted, stating he need not give explanation about where he was going.

When the officer tried to explain that it was done on the order of Indian Media Manager Wing Commander M Baladitya for safety reasons, Pathan said he had taken his permission and boarded a private taxi.

The dutiful officer was unwilling to give up and trailed the car to Haltu in Kasba where Pathan had gone to meet a relative, a junior cricketer.

Things died down after Pathan returned to the hotel but the officials looked displeased, being yorked by the fast bowler.
