Prasar Bharati will file a writ petition in Supreme Court on Monday against BCCI's decision to give cricket rights for the domestic market to Sony and production work to Ten Sports.

Prasar Bharati sources said the move could well delay the TV coverage of the crucial home series against Australia, as another case related to Zee and ESPN-Star Sports was already pending in the Supreme Court.

“Now the public broadcaster's decision to move court too has complicated the matter further,” a senior Prasar Bharati official said.

Prasar Bharati CEO KS Sarma confirmed the decision.

The Prasar Bharati top brass is said to be upset with the Board's decision as it had sounded the public broadcaster nearly 10 days ago that it was interested in giving the domestic rights to them, and Prasar Bharati should make all arrangements for coverage.

Subsequently this was conveyed by the BCCI's lawyer to Supreme Court also.
