The Centre on Sunday said that the terrorist strike at a Congress rally in Srinagar will not hamper the ongoing peace process in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The Union Home Ministry is in constant touch with the Jammu and Kashmir government and is keeping a regular watch on the situation," a ministry spokesman said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to visit Srinagar on May 24 to attend the round table conference initiated by him with Kashmiri groups and individuals.

Condemning the attack, the spokesman said "such incidents will not hamper the peace process."
