Jabalpur, Gwalior in next round

TEAMS OF Jabalpur and Gwalior entered the second round of the West Zone Inter University Hockey Tournament being organised at Maj. Dhyanchand Grounds on Wednesday.
In the first match, Jabalpur University with the help of a brilliant hat trick by Hasan Ali convincingly defeated Bikaner University 5-1. Superb stick skill and fabulous control over the ball by Hasan entertained the spectators. Jabalpur dominated in the entire match.
Gwalior was the second team of Madhya Pradesh varsities that registered name for the third round. Playing against Nagpur, the team of Gwalior looked comfortable. However, the first part of the match witnessed intense game from Nagpur, but after conceding a goal the team failed to bounce back in the match. Gwalior won the match 2-0. Sujay and Birendra were the scorers.
In the other matches, Gujarat University defeated Pune 1-0, Aurangabad overcame Gwalior 2-1, Amrawati University beat Surat University 3-1 and Jodhpur University vanquished Baroda University 1-0. Ajmer University and Ahmedabad University were declared winners as the opponents failed to reach the venue in stipulated time.
In charge Physical Education Department of Barkatullah University Prof HS Yadav, Director Sports Dr Akhilesh Sharma, Alok Mishra, Khalil Khan Yogendra Singh were present during the matches.
