Jallianwala martyrs’ kin seek apology

The relatives of the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs are hoping that UK PM David Cameron will apologise for the 1919 massacre by Brig Gen Reh Dyer, when he visits the memorial on Wednesday. HT reports.

The relatives of the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs are hoping that UK PM David Cameron will apologise for the 1919 massacre by Brig Gen Reh Dyer, when he visits the memorial on Wednesday.

A similar wish was expressed when Queen Elizabeth-II visited the memorial 16 years ago, but she did not say a word of regret.

“If he doesn’t apologise, his visit is meaningless,” said Bhushan Behl, president of the Jallianwala Bagh Shahid Pariwar Samiti.
