Jamat begins campaign to educate Muslims

NATIONAL SECRETARY of Jamat-e-Islami Hind Maulana Mohammad Rafiq said that Jamat has launched a countrywide ?Islamic family campaign? to educate the Muslims for following the guidelines of Shariat (Muslim personal law) and to wipe out various misconceptions over nikah and talaq issues.

NATIONAL SECRETARY of Jamat-e-Islami Hind Maulana Mohammad Rafiq said that Jamat has launched a countrywide ‘Islamic family campaign’ to educate the Muslims for following the guidelines of Shariat (Muslim personal law) and to wipe out various misconceptions over nikah and talaq issues.

Talking to media persons here today, he said during the campaign around 30,000 public meetings were organised along with symposium along with press conferences, corner meeting and cultural programmes at different places. He said zonal incharge of the Jamat would be responsible for running the programmes and all through the campaign from December 1 to 10. He said during the campaign, Jamat would check unnecessary expenditure in marriages and to educate newly wedded couples regarding their duties. He claimed that Islam was a religion of peace and it was the duty of every Muslims to establish peace and harmony.

He also expressed concern over increasing violence against the women. Maulana said during campaign focus would be laid on status of joint family system, status of girls and women in Islam, role of women in controlling the family, criteria for selection of spouses, family planning and foeticides.
