An emergency meeting of the Deans of Faculties, senior members of the administration and Heads of Departments on Sunday resolved to restart the admission process, but put on hold resumption of classes.

However, authorities of the violence-hit varsity were in no mood to spare the students indulged in violence and made it clear that admission of rusticated students is non-negotiable, a demand raised by a section of the students.

"Only democratic means of expression shall be tolerated. All those who indulge in acts of violence and destruction of property shall be dealt with severely," the meeting resolved unanimously, an university statement said.

The varsity authorities said they are ready to examine 'genuine lapses in the admission process', if there are any.

Jamia witnessed largescale violence on Tuesday last after outgoing Chairman of the Students' Union Shams Pervez tried to meet Vice Chancellor Mushirul Hasan for admission of some people who the varsity authorities claim were 'known trouble makers'.
