Jammu-Srinagar national highway closed

Traffic along 300-km Jammu-Srinagar has been suspended on Wednesday following landslides at many places. Flights have also been affected. According to the traffic police officials landslides have been reported at Panthal, Gangroo, Nashri and Ramban.

Traffic along 300-km Jammu-Srinagar has been suspended on Wednesday following landslides at many places. Flights have also been affected. According to the traffic police officials landslides have been reported at Panthal, Gangroo, Nashri and Ramban.

It has been raining heavily at many places in the Jammu and Kashmir since Monday morning. Metrological department has forecasted rain and heavy snowfall at many places in the next 24-hr, because of the western disturbances.

The normal air traffic has been also affected. Airport authorities said flights have not landed till 11.30 am. The first flight arrived at the Jammu airport at around 9.30 am.

Jammu-Srinagar national highway is the only road link between the state and the nation. The national highway was severally damaged at many places in the last year's flood.
