Mirwaiz briefed first Secretary of the Japanese embassy Takashi Garcia in detail about the latest political situation, status of human rights violations in the state and the ongoing struggle of Kashmiris for freedom, a spokesman of the separatist amalgam told PTI after the meeting.

Garcia called on Mirwaiz at his Nigeen residence this evening and stayed with him for nearly an hour, he said.

The spokesman said the first secretary told Mirwaiz how concerned his country was over the situation in the valley.
