Jaswant eyes 'Thakur' votes

Jaswant Singh said that after the formation of the NDA government at the Centre, measures would be taken for the release of Raja Bhaiyya currently lodged Pratapgarh district jail under POTA.

Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh has said that after the formation of the NDA government at the Centre, measures would be taken for the release of jailed MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya and his father Uday Pratap Singh. Both are currently lodged in the Pratapgarh district jail under Pota.

With an eye on the Thakur vote, Singh condemned the arrest of Raja Bhaiyya and his father. He said though the BJP was an alliance partner of the Mayawati government at the time Pota was imposed on Raja Bhaiyya, his father and cousin, his party had registered a protest with the CM.

Singh blamed the SP for Raja Bhaiyya still being in jail. He said the state government had failed to constitute the Pota Review Committee. If the committee had submitted its report, then the Centre would have definitely taken steps for his release.
