In the recent past, a few persons involved in the racket have duped several hundred youngmen into paying crores of rupees by promising them lucrative jobs in Gulf countries. It’s not that the youth of this district alone have fallen into their trap but these hoodwinkers have managed to extract good money from youngmen residing in other districts too.
Zargaam, a resident of Kareli, who has reportedly gone into hiding leaving several hundred youngmen dazed had taken good amount of money from each of them on the pretext of getting them jobs in the Gulf. On Sunday several persons from Kanpur reportedly made a beeline to his house after fearing that they had reposed trust in a conman. But they could not contact Zargaam who is reported to have vanished with lot of money. Nobody till now has gone to the cops in this case.We know not much is going to happen in this case even if we lodge an FIR.
In the end cops will start harassing us, said a victim on condition of anonymity.
Shafiq of Rani Mandi is another man who has taken huge amount from people most of who are villagers with no reach.
A few city dwellers who are also his victim tried to approach the cops but nothing happened. As a result they have resigned to their fate.
Allah will punish him for his deeds, said a victim wishing anonymity.
Murad Ali of Bahadurganj Dayra is another name which has invited the wrath of many youngmen who feel cheated by him. Having spent some time in the West Asia, Murad reportedly came back five years ago. Last year he spread a word that he had visa for 50 persons who could be adjusted in a Saudi Arabian firm.
Lured by his words several youngmen started visiting him. He reportedy started collecting cash ranging from 35000 to 40,000 from each candidate. The remaining money was to be paid afterwards. None of the victims have lodged any FIR in this case so far.
Meanwhile, the only result which came in and that too very little due to media hype was in the case of Pathak brothers who duped hundreds of aspiring candidates of nearly a crore in the name of getting them lucrative jobs in the merchant navy.
Though one of the arrested brothers has been denied bail by the High Court, connivance of a couple of senior police officers with the masterminds of this case and their wives weakened the case to such an extent that the perpetrators of the crime managed to flee leaving empty almirahs in their flats in Allahpur locality.
But for the cops' connivance this would not have happened, feels a victim who nearly sold all his valuables to get his son on board a merchant navy ship.
