C Harikumar, senior journalist and Pathanamthitta bureau chief of Mathrubhumi, died today in a hospital in Kochi, family sources said.

Harikumar (52) was undergoing treatment for gastric problems. He is survived by wife and two children.

In a career spanning over 25 years, he had distinguished himself through his humour-laced reports and features on political and cultural issues.

His witty and humourous sketches of the Assembly proceedings were widely appreciated.

Harikumar had worked in various bureaux of Mathrubhimi, including the state capital.
