The district magistrate had earlier directed all primary schools to open at 9 am, but due to dense fog, he reviewed the situation and decided to order their closure.
Meanwhile, two more persons died due to cold at Jungle Babban in Campierganj. The deceased were identified as Mewati Devi and Bhuwar. However, the district administration has not yet confirmed any death from cold.
The maximum temperature is coming down with each passing day. On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 18.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was recorded at 8.7 degrees Celsius.
Most of the residents confined themselves to their houses. Though the sun appeared for a few hours, it failed to warm the people.
The municipal corporation made arrangements for bonfires in the city for the poor.
Dense fog also forced the Roadways to cancel buses, which ply at night and early morning. The department also ordered cancellation of buses in case there was a shortage of passengers due to intense cold.
