The Special Investigation Team probing the Sankararaman murder had filed the case under section 420 (cheating) of the IPC against the mutt accountant Kaladi Vishwanatha Iyer in January. They had also implicated the mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer in the case.

The Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswati, Sundaresa Iyer and Kaladi Vishwanatha Iyer had sought and been granted anticipatory bail in this case.

Today, lawyers for the junior seer moved the anticipatory bail plea in the Sessions court. It is likely to come up for hearing on June 14 or 15.

Meanwhile, the bail petitions of Appu, Anil, 'Maatu' Bhasker, and Arun, all accused in the Sankararaman murder case, were taken up for hearing in the Sessions court. After hearing the arguments, judge GM Akbar Ali said he would deliver his order on the bail pleas on June 13.

The Kanchi seers, Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati, are the main accused in the Sankararaman murder case.
