K Asungba Sangtam joined the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) in 1984 and moved on to become its Joint Secretary in 1987.
K Asungba Sangtam joined the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) in 1984 and moved on to become its Joint Secretary in 1987 and soon after in 1989 he was elected the general secretary of NPCC.
Sangtam was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha and then became the member of the committee on communications and its subcommittee 'A' on the department of Telecom and also the member of the consultative committee of the ministry of agriculture. He was re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha.
This aside, Sangtam has also held memberships with the committee on absence of members from the sittings of the house, joint committee on offices of profit, the introspection committee of AICC and also the parliamentary affairs committee. He is also a noted industrialist apart form being a political and social worker.
