TRADERS ARE up in arms against the police administration in the city. Enraged over the twin robberies at Yashoda Nagar and cops’ alleged inaction, the Kanpur Udyog Vyapar Mandal has given a call for a city bandh on Tuesday.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, national president of the Akhil Bharatiya Udyog Mandal and former MP from the BJP Shyam Behari Misha declared a ‘bandh’ on Tuesday to protest rising incidents of crime in the city especially targeting traders.
It may be pointed out that on Friday, two bullion traders of Yashoda Nagar were murdered while wife of one of the traders was also raped before being killed.
“Within a month, four traders have been killed and more than Rs 50 lakh looted by the miscreants but till date, not a single case of robbery has been worked out by the police,” lamented Mishra.
Venting his ire on the district administration, Mishra said that commercial areas of the city including Govind Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Generalganj, Lal Bangla, Mani Ram Baghia and Arya Nagar among others have witnessed a sudden spurt in theft cases at shops.
“But the police have remained a mute spectator till date and instead of giving relief to traders they are harassing them,” alleged Mishra.
Hitting out at SSP PC Meena, Mishra said, “The SSP tried to play down the incident stating that police cannot provide security to each household in the city at a time when traders were expressing their resentment in front of the SSP.” In such a scenario, how could anyone expect the police to arrest the miscreants, remarked Mishra?
After losing all hope of any success on the part of the police administration, the traders, to protest the police ineffectiveness, have decided to keep their shops and commercial establishments closed on Tuesday, added Mishra.
Vyapar Mandal also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased in the Yashodanagar incident along with a relief of Rs 5 lakh for those injured. The members also demanded suspension of police officials responsible for laxity on their part.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included general secretary of the Vyapar Mandal Manikant Jain, Naval Khanna, Surendra Saneja, Rakesh Singh and Surendra Maithani among others.
