Deepa Mehta is shocked by Anurag Kashyap's accusations that he was not given enough credit for translating dialogues of the Oscar-nominated movie Water to Hindi.

Mehta is also upset by the fact that Kashyap has labelled his experience of working with her and the cast and crew 'terrible'.

"Why did Kashyap speak like this? He's such a dear friend with a great mind. I truly admire him,? Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

The Canadian director of Indian origin also insists that Kashyap's contribution to the movie was 'invaluable', for without him her characters would not have come to life.

"And yes, his contribution to Water is invaluable. It was Kashyap who used his skills with the Hindi language to bring my characters to life," she said.

However, what really has Mehta upset, is that Kashyap never came to her with his problems, going instead to the media.

"Not once did he tell me or let me feel that he was having a terrible time. We seemed to get along so well," Mehta revealed.
