Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri has said that his country would never accept a LoC-based solution to the Kashmir problem.
"We consider the LoC as part of the problem, and not a solution. Pakistan has made it clear that we cannot agree to any proposal, which could be seen as altering the existing temporary status of the LoC and turning it into a permanent border," The News quoted Kasuri as saying at a seminar in Islamabad.
He said Pakistan believed that the human dimensions of the Kashmir problem and the political imperatives that dictate its resolution had a symbiotic link.
"There can be no just, lasting, or peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute that does not take into account the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
Kauri further said: "It is also important for all sides to acknowledge that the Kashmir issue is not about territory or ideology. It is a human problem. It is for this reason that Pakistan believes the Kashmiri people are the major stakeholders in the Jammu and Kashmir dispute."
