THE DECISION on the controversial issue of allotment of plots for the remaining members of the Kavita Cooperative Society, in which a land mafia of the City has being showing considerable interest, will be taken after the Cooperative Court gives its verdict on the matter.

Though the issue of allotment of plots to the Kavita Cooperative Society near Patel Motors was one of the major issues in the agenda of IDA Board meeting yesterday, the Board deferred a decision on the issue due to the stiff resistance from the District Collector Vivek Aggarwal.
Though some officials of the Indore Development Authority (IDA) in collusion with the land mafia wanted to allot the land to the Kavita Cooperative Society in haste, the Collector did not bite the bait thrown by these officials.
The issue of Kavita Cooperative Society came to focus when the relatives of the original land owner, from whom the Society purchased the land, moved High Court against the deal on the allegation that the Society did not pay the agreed amount as per their agreement.
There were two petitions in the High Court against the deal. The High Court dismissed both the petitions on the plea that the relatives moved court after the death of the original owner, that too after a long time of the agreement. Though the agreement was singed in the early 1980s, the relatives moved court after the death of the owner in 1991.
The Court ordered to allot the land to the Society. But, the case is at present pending in the Cooperative Court and a decision is pending with it. There are around 160 members in the Society and land allotment letter has been made to around 90 of them after the High Court decision. The IDA is involved in the matter as the land comes under its scheme.
As per the State government Sankalp-9 Plan of 1984, any Cooperative Society land that comes under any IDA scheme should be given land proportionately.
When contacted IDA Chairman, Madhu Verma, said the Kavita Cooperative Society issue will be decided after the decision of the Cooperative Court, which might come any time. He said the allotment letter to around 90 of the members had been made way back which was stayed by the High Court when the case was admitted in the High Court. As the case was dismissed the stay has been removed.
