The residents of the area feel cheated by the KDA authorities, as they were promised a park but what they have got a power substation.
Victim of the KDA apathy Ram Kishore Tewari asked the KDA authorities for the reasons behind the permission given by them to construct a power substation in the park to KESCo under the RTI Act. But he was more stunned by the reply, which he got from the authorities. Tewari was informed that KDA has not given any permission for the construction of power substation.
“How can they ignore construction in a park, where children were supposes to play. How can they change the use of land without informing the residents? We were promised a park in the colony but they have sold it of to KESCo, we feel cheated, we have paid for the house in a good locality not for a locality near a power substation, this is cheating,” said Ram Kishore Tewari.
He filed his application in a programme ‘Ghoos ko Ghoonsa’ organised by some city based NGOs, Sewak Mandal, Chetna Kala Manch, Bar Association at the collectorate premises on Wednesday. Social activist Sandeep Pandey was also present in the programme.
Around 1000 applications regarding various problems in the city were received.
These applications would be forwarded to the concerned authorities by the NGOs under the Right to Information Act.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Pandey condemned the officials for hiding information of public interest. He asked the people to come out and ask questions to the government officials about their work. Secretary of the KDA Bhupendra Singh said, “I don’t have the information about the particular case but surely land of the park can be changed for the public interest like tube wells, power substations after all it is for the benefit of the local residents only.”
