The boy reportedly said that the dog was taken out the kennel before they locked him up. He was not allowed to eat his lunch either.

Following an uproar, the police arrested the principal of the school and her husband. The police added that many parents later approached them claiming their wards had been punished similarly. The state government has ordered a probe into the incident and the state human rights commission has sought a report from the police.
