Kerala: CBI to probe Jayakrishnan murder

The Kerala government on Thursday decided to hand over BJP leader KT Jayakrishnan’s murder case to the CBI. Bhartiya Yuva Morch state vice president Jayakrishnan, a school teacher, was hacked to death in 1999 by CPM activists.

The Kerala government on Thursday decided to hand over BJP leader KT Jayakrishnan’s murder case to the CBI. Bhartiya Yuva Morch state vice president Jayakrishnan, a school teacher, was hacked to death in 1999 by CPM activists.

The court had given death to five accused and the Kerala HC had upheld it. In 2006, the SC acquitted four and commuted an accused’s death sentence.

The case took a new turn when one of the alleged killers of TP Chandrasekhran (Marxist rebel) TK Rajeesh told the police that he was part of the killer gang that was behind Jayakrishnan’s death.
