Well-known Malayalam director T. Rajeevnath has begun shooting a documentary showcasing the Indian diaspora's success story in the United States.

And the first shot was an interview of Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi here.

"This was the opening shoot," said Rajeevnath."We began shooting at 9.30 a.m. and it was over in an hour."

The US State Department and the US-based First Serve International are jointly producing the 90-minute documentary.

"It records the success story of several Indians in the US and is about the peaceful co-existence of Indians in the US," said the Kerala-based director.

"In the second week of March we will start shooting in Washington and later at other locations in the US," said Rajeevnath.

"The film will include interviews with successful Indians settled in the US such as filmmaker Manoj Night Shyamalan, writer Salman Rushdie as well as with US senator Hillary Clinton and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Around three dozen people have been short-listed."

They are trying to rope in US President George W. Bush for the film.
