Kher, Karnad & Gulzar to give shape to AU?s FTI

According to varsity sources the proposed institute is the vision of the Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe who has taken personal interest for establishment of the institute.
The authorities were holding discussions to finalise a proper site for establishing the institute. However the authorities have formed a consulting committee consisting of theatre and film dignitaries like Anupam Kher, Girish Karnad and Gulzar besides some teachers with artistic interest of AU's constituent colleges.
Dr Deepa Agarwal and Dr Rajendra Tripathi 'Rasraj' from Sanskrit department of Allahabad Degree College and Dr Anupam Anand from Hindi department of CMP Degree College have been included in the consulting committee. Further development in the institute will be initiated on the advice of the consulting committee.
The proposed institute will impart training in all aspects of film production and other allied subjects. The institute will be a high standard institute which will have facilities at par with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune and will be well-equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment. The students initially will work with the low-end equipment and gradually get to use the advanced equipment through demonstrations and individual practicals.
The institute will also arrange visits of famous actors and cine personalities to help the students of the institute.
It is anticipated that unofficial work of the institute shall be started very soon and the students shall get admission into the institute from the next session.
According to sources a course in journalism and mass communication and mobile communication will very soon be started in the varsity.
