Koyama wins 125cc Grand Prix

Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama wins the Catalunya 125cc Motorcycling Grand Prix to record his maiden victory.

Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama won the Catalunya 125cc Grand Prix at Barcelona on Sunday to record his maiden victory.

The 24-year-old led home Gabor Talmacsi of Hungary and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher.

Talmacsi assumed the lead in the overall standings.

Koyama was ecstatic at winning his first race at this level.

"This is a fantastic day for me," said Koyama. "It was a heck of a battle. From halfway was when I moved up the field and I was extremely motivated."
