However, representatives of striking unions feigned ignorance about the notice being served. Meanwhile, the production at Maruti's Manesar plant continued to be hampered.

Only 1,000 units could be produced on Tuesday against normal capacity of 2,800 units. On Monday, 1,800 units were produced.

The labour department has given striking workers 48 hours to respond to the notice. The agreement in question was signed on October 1 between workers and members of the management in presence of state government officials.

"The production at the company's Gurgaon plant has further gone down as there was no supply of diesel engines and also transmissions from Suzuki Powertrain India Limited due to strike. The Gurgaon plant produced only 1,000 units on Tuesday," said a Maruti official.
