Railway Minister Lalu Prasad also announced that the spinner would be considered for a promotion for his "extraordinary performance".
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Friday announced a cash award of Rs one lakh for left-arm spinner Murali Kartik who played a match-winning role in India's 13-run victory against Australia in the fourth and final cricket Test in Mumbai.

Kartik, who plays for Railways in Ranji Trophy competition, picked three wickets for 32, including two in one over, which marked the collapse of Australian batting and was declared man of the match. He had grabbed four wickets in the first innings.
"Murali Kartik's match winning performance has come at a time when Indian team was trailing the series 0-2 and his performance helped in defending the small score of Indian team put before the Australia," the Minister said in a press release.
Prasad also said the spinner would be considered for an out-of-turn promotion as a special case for his "extraordinary performance".
