Land demarcation complete in 11 dists

DEMARCATION OF forest and revenue lands has been completed in 11 districts of the State. According to an official release the districts were Ujjain, Chhindwara, Tikamgarh, Datia, Sheopur, Hoshangabad, Harda, Jabalpur, Mandla, Burhanpur and Shivpuri.

DEMARCATION OF forest and revenue lands has been completed in 11 districts of the State. According to an official release the districts were Ujjain, Chhindwara, Tikamgarh, Datia, Sheopur, Hoshangabad, Harda, Jabalpur, Mandla, Burhanpur and Shivpuri.

Besides, 16 districts, including Bhopal have reported 80 percent completion of demarcation work, the release said. The State Government has directed district collectors and divisional forest officers to complete the work in their districts latest by March 31, 2007. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had expressed his displeasure over non-completion of demarcation of forest and revenue lands.

The release said all the divisional commissioners and collectors and forest officials have been asked to draw up a joint action plan and execute it in right earnest.

The release said that the officials have been directed that in case of non-completion of this action, notification for transfer of remaining Khasra numbers to revenue department should be issued and the borders in the records of forest and revenue departments amended.

Under the Forest Conservation Act 1980, 85 251 hectare land encroached upon as on December 31, 1976 was settled in favour of eligible encroachers.
