A seven-year old boy was one of the five killed in landslides in Kholagbari, about five km from district headquarters Namchi, on late Wednesday night, South's Superintendent of Police MS Tuli said over phone.

Search operations were launched from Thursday morning, but only the body of the child, Kancha Rai, was recovered, the SP said adding search was continuing for other bodies.

Landslides also took place in Pabong and Chyandara, neighbouring areas of worst-affected Kholagbari, during that time but there was no report of any casualty from these two villages, the SP said.

Twelve houses were damaged in the three villages.

Water pipeline to Namchi, damaged by landslides at Rayong and Devithan, were being repaired, he said.

Movement of vehicular traffic to Namchi, which had come to a halt till Thursday due to the landslides, has partially been restored through Melli and Jorethang, the SP said.
