Three months after their appointment as Parliamentary Secretaries following the downsizing exercise, Meghalaya government on Thursday called a meeting to apprise them of their duties, responsibilities and make them aware of the relevant laws.

Chief Minister DD Lapang told reporters in Shillong that he would sit with the 15 parliamentary secretaries later in the day to discuss the issues.
"Many of them often tell me that they do not know what to do as parliamentary secretaries," the chief minister said.
The meeting would be held in the backdrop of resentment among the parliamentary secretaries who were dropped as ministers in the pruning exercise after the July 6 deadline as per the constitutional obligation.
