Bodyguard of a self-styled divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in an encounter in Udhampur district, official sources said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, troops launched a search and cordon operation in Gagra area of Gool tehsil in Udhampur district last night, sources said.

The operation led to an encounter in which the bodyguard of self-styled LeT divisional commander Abu Musalam was killed. However, Musalam, managed to escape.

The terrorist was identified as Abdul Ghani Chopan, code-named Abu Abid.

One AK rifle, three magazines, 130 rounds, one wireless set and seven grenades were recovered from him.
